The clinical applications of transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy (report of 15 cases)

Objective To summarize the surgical and application experiences of the transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Methods The clinical data of 15 patients who underwent transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy from June 2009 to January 2011 were analyzed.Results The operation was successfully undertaken in all 15 cases, the average operation time was 75 min (5090 min) , the mean volume of blood loss was 12 ml (1015 ml) , the average length of postoperative hospital stay was 3 days (24 days) , no drainage tube was placed, no postoperative complications such as bleeding and bile leakage occurred.All patients recovered well, there was no obvious surgical scar in the umbilical region.Conclusion The transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy is safe and feasible, it has the advantage of no scar, but the operation is more difficult than the LC.If the umbilical operation devices and surgical instruments were further improved, the transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy can replace the traditional laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) to some extent.
